Non Small Cell Lung Cancer Pictures

The prognosis was very grim: her disease had advanced to Stage 4 and was inoperable. Non Small Cell Lung Cancer PicturesDoctors at a very well known university hospital told her there was nothing they could do for her. They didn’t even offer chemotherapy as an option; she was told she had months to live. However, instead of giving up, she decided she was going to fight the disease, and ultimately found her way to cancer specialist, Keith Block, MD, where she received chronotherapy as part of her treatment plan. Today, she is doing very well and enjoying her two children and six grandchildren. She wants the world to know about the role chronotherapy played in her survival in the hopes of helping other cancer patients.

What is chronotherapy?

Chronotherapy takes into account how our body’s natural rhythms’ impact our ability to process medications. Patterns like sleeping, menstrual cycles, even our physical response to the changing seasons, are different for everyone. In the old days we called these biorhythms. Today, doctors are finding that understanding a patient’s biorhythms, and coordinating the timing of their medical treatments to these biorhythms, can profoundly affect the outcome of their treatments. This is called “chronotherapy.”

“Every drug has an optimal time when it is least toxic and most effective.” says Keith Block, MD, editor-in-chief of the peer-reviewed journal Integrative Cancer Therapies, and Clinical Professor, Department of Medical Education, at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago (UIC), and at the Department of Pharmacology. For cancer treatment, this is determined by several factors, including the biological uniqueness of the particular drug being given, the time when the specific type of cancer cells divide the most, when the normal healthy cells of the patient generally divide the least, the patient’s circadian clock and individual rest-activity cycles, and even the time zone the person resides in.”

According to Dr. Michael Smolensky, co-author of the book The Body Clock Guide to Better Health, “When cancer medications are given in a chronobiological manner, patients may be able to tolerate higher, more potent doses than would be possible otherwise.”

“This method of administering chemotherapy is revolutionary and has demonstrated in large randomized trials its potential to improve survival,” states Dr. Block. ”We have found that often patients receiving chronotherapy reduce what would have been recurring side effects of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and fatigue. This is important because the debilitation caused by chemo can cause patients to reduce or even stop treatments that could otherwise help them win their battle with cancer.”

Chronotherapy is being widely researched around the world:

There are over 62,000 references in PubMed (the National Institute of Health’s archive of biomedical and life sciences journal articles) about chronobiology (how biology is affected by timing) and over 500 scientific articles specifically about chronotherapy. The National Cancer Institute’s Office of Cancer Complementary and Alternative Medicine (OCCAM) devoted an entire web cast for doctors on chronotherapy.

So why isn’t chronotherapy used more widely?

One of the main problems has been logistics – figuring out how to deliver chemotherapy in exactly timed doses. “Portable infusion pumps may hold the answer,” explains Gerald Sokol, MD, an oncologist with the division of oncology in FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.

Dr. Block has brought technology to the U.S. that administers chemotherapy via a pump designed to precisely time up to four channels of infusion simultaneously to the individual needs of a patient. Highly portable and small enough to fit in a fanny pack, patients are able to maintain full mobility, play sports, and enjoy a full night’s sleep – while receiving their specifically timed cancer therapy.

Is anyone or has anyone gone through Prostrate Cancer therapy?

I am doing some research for a friend of mine who was just recently diagnosed with Prostrate Cancer. He has seen a doctor and has been given the option of Seed implantation, Cryotherapy, or surgery. He does not want surgery right now. And the doctor is ok with that as long as he does not wait too long.
Has anyone gone through Seed implantation or Cryotherapy that can offer their experience or advice. Anything would be very helpful right now.

ROLE IN INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE FOR CANCER DR HARSHAD RAVAL MD

The term Integrative Medicine refers to combining modern Western edicine with the best of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). This allows a patient to draw from a wide range of healing philosophies both old and new. When Integrative Medicine is used with cancer treatment it is often intended to address the emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of health as well as the biological. Integrative Medicine is growing in popularity among cancer patients, fueling research on alternative treatments and Integrative Medicine. It is important to know the facts about Integrative Medicine therapies for cancer in order to distinguish effective treatment combinations from therapies that can be dangerous or ineffective.
How Can Integrative Medicine Help Cancer Patients?
Although alternative medicine cannot cure cancer, Integrative Medicine can help improve the quality of life for a cancer patient. Its focus is the total well-being of
the patient and is person-centered, rather than disease-centered. These treatments do not aim to replace conventional treatments, but rather are used alongside conventional cancer treatments. Although physicians have been slow to recognize the benefits of Integrative Medicine, there is now more interest in using Integrative Medicine with cancer. Some cancer centers are now supplying information and resources for Integrative Medicine for patient use. These include
MD Anderson Cancer Center Center. Many centers are also carrying out research to determine which alternative treatments are most effective.
Some cancer centers are now hiring a team of alternative practitioners to work with the oncologist to help the patient. Dr. Lucille Marchland is an integrative and palliative medicine physician at the University of Wisconsin who oversees
integrative medicine at the Paul P. Carbone Comprehensive  Cancer Center    She spends time with cancer patients to determine particular needs of each patient and then refers them to various alternative therapies ranging from yoga to acupuncture and meditation practices. Even if the patient is terminal, attention must be paid to body, mind and spirit. Having a physician oversee integrative medicine programs helps the patient to make decisions with greater confidence by interpreting the scientific information and decreasing anxiety.
For the cancer patient, integrative treatments can be aimed at improving overall health, preventing adverse effects between supplements and conventional treatments, decreasing overall side effects of conventional therapy, preparing a patient for surgery, and addressing the challenges of living with cancer.
What Are Some Integrative Treatments for Cancer Patients?

Mind-Body Medicine:
These therapies use the mind to help control and relax the body. Cancer patients often have to deal with a great amount of anxiety surrounding their diagnosis. Many therapies in this category have been found to reduce cancer-related pain and relieve emotional distress, which include:

  • Relaxation : techniques can help a patient to better cope with side effects of cancer treatments that include nausea and pain.
  • Prayer : and spirituality in general can help a patient to be aware of something greater than the individual and can improve quality of life.
  • Art therapy: allows a patient to express their emotions that can release fear and anxiety. It can also be used as a distraction from discomfort.
  • Hypnosis: can help a patient develop a more positive attitude about treatment and reduce pain.
  • Yoga: can improve strength both physically and mentally, and help patients feel at peace.
  • Group therapy or talking with others in a similar situation can help with depression, hopelessness, and improving social functioning.
  • Physical Manipulation:Therapies that fall into this category involve movement of the body in some way. They include:
  • Massage: which may reduce fatigue, anxiety, and nausea related to cancer treatments.
  • Physical activity: or exercise, which can help reduce fatigue and depression.
  • Energy Therapy: This therapy focuses on energy fields of the body and includes:
  • Acupuncture: which may reduce nausea and vomiting as well as alleviate pain.
  • Therapeutic : and healing touch, which can decrease anxiety and reduce pain.
  • Reiki treatments : which use practitioner’s hands to transmit energy to the recipient, can relieve pain and nausea.
  • Magnetic therapy, which uses magnets placed on the body to relive pain.

As a parent can you legally refuse conventional cancer treatment for your kid?

Chemotherapy/Radiation etc is nothing but poison to the body. When you poison the immune system and irradiate tissues, you create physical imbalances which in turn can create cancer. This is the simple reason why so many people who subject themselves to conventional cancer treatments find themselves battling recurring cancer. Conventional cancer treatments are downright brutal and destroy the immune system. I strongly believe in prevention and alternative medicine, and living a pure and natural lifestyle with raw organic foods, so my family and I will probably never ever get cancer. But if me or my kids or wife ever got cancer I swear I would never subject myself or them to that torture just to please the big pharma companies which don’t give a sh*t about people. Just like I would never give them a bottle of rat poison to swallow. The big pharma companies only care about their trillion-dollar a year industry and keeping people brainwashed. My question is would a parent be legally allowed to refuse conventional cancer treatment if their kid got cancer?
chemotherapy/radiation is the death wish. Big pharma is constantly throwing money out trying to make natural medicine of any kind illegal everywhere and denying the fact that it actually works! But of course everyone is too brainwashed to see that.

Primary Liver Cancer – Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Mr. Joseph Mormot, 71 years of age, was diagnosed with primary liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma) and after a few sessions of chemotherapy he was told by his doctors that there was no help for him and that he only had a few months to live. He came to the Issels Treatment Center on June 9, 2010. He was in a very bad shape from pain, swollen legs, and jaundice. When he was admitted, his Billrubin was 20, and by the end of his treatment it had already dropped to 5. His bile duct is open, which allows for normal liver functions; he doesn’t have any pain, his legs are not swollen and he can walk freely. In his own words: “When the doctors talk to you, you can see they talk from their heart…they treat you as a friend…and it was very supportive for me. I never experienced such great care before…”
